Abingdon Rowing Club had a storming time both north and south of the border last weekend 12/13 June. The club turned out a number of winners in high status events
A superlative performance from Andrew Bryson at the Scottish National Championships in Strathclyde won a gold in lightweight single sculls.
The club also scooped a number of titles at the National Masters Championships in Nottingham, including women’s A quads, men’s C IM3 quads, men’s D IM3 coxed fours and men’s D Novice coxed fours, as well as a silver in women’s C IM3 single sculls.
Nearer to home, the club’s 13-year old Josh Jones was invited to join Hinksey Sculling School’s Blenheim Palace Regatta and raced a scratch double with a sculler from Dorney Boat Club, winning a silver medal in a field of 8.
We received a grant from the Local Network Fund to purchase a new safety launch and equipment. This will be used to accompany young people learning to row on the Thames in Abingdon. Read more...
